Apologies to everyone who thought this was a post on Twilight or 50 Shades of Misogyny. No, this is a post about the decidedly unsexy topic of parenting.
There’s a fork in the road of parenting that every mom and dad comes to: the way of glitter, or the way of spanking. Judging from this pin, many Pinterest parents have chosen the well-beaten path of corporal punishment (see what I did there?).
More pinners bemoan the dearth of spanking below:
I grew up without spanking–perhaps I could be used as a strong argument for spanking. However, those in the spanking community, please let me know: is it normal to spank an 18 month old? Children under 2 years are still very much babies.
It is, apparently, normal to equate spanking with the teachings of Jesus. Although, I’m pretty sure the phrase “spare the rod, spoil the child” didn’t come from the Bible. Also, threatening your child with Jesus’ disapproval is a totally effective and appropriate way to get them on the Christian wagon.
Wait, what? Is it the glitter bottles that lead to 6-year-olds being arrested, or spanking?
Conclusion: Pinterest is full of Mrs. Trunchbulls. I wonder if their homes have chokeys?

the exact phrase of “spare the rod, spoil the child” is not in the bible, but I think what people are referring to when saying that it’s in there is Proverbs 13:24 ” He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.”
